*Author Laura Mills merges romance and drama with a helping of Southern charm in this compelling love story. A Sunflower Harvest will entertain romance and historical fiction lovers alike. Mills' prose combines seamlessly with an unhurried narrative, and it makes for a smooth reading experience. From the first page onwards, you get to know the main characters and their backstories, and Mills gives them agency and makes their actions and motives easy to discern. Rachel and Levi's relationship has the primary narrative focus, with their distinct personalities creating friction and drama that is delicious to consume. *I Loved it! It’s an intriguing story with plenty of romance and enough drama to keep you turning the pages. The friction between the main characters was engaging. This is a true romance with a western flair. I would recommend.

INSPIRATION FOR WRITING:

A SUNFLOWER HARVEST

The book of Ruth in the Bible was the initial inspiration for this story. I took it to another level by having the heroine be a pregnant widow, needing to find a father for her unborn child. This would require a man who was willing to protect this woman and provide for a ready-made family.

Being a western fan, I chose a sheriff who was already content in his life, or so he thought, having pretty much the same daily routine in a quiet small town.  He became the perfect partner.  

DEDICATIONS

To my grandmother, Rachel, who left this world much too soon. An angel is how I would describe her. A kind, sweet person who always thought of others and was a joy to be around.

To a man I admire for his integrity and genuine character on and off the screen. A God- fearing man who sets a fine example of how to be a model human being. That man is Clint Walker.
