The narrative moves at a good pace, unraveling Leah’s emotional knots as Michael reveals a secret that touches both their families. Leah and Michael are portrayed as imperfect characters with many good qualities that form the basis of their love and respect for each other. Leah’s father is a steadying influence for her and Michael as they navigate their way through an awkward situation. I appreciated Leah’s portrayal in assisting her father in his surveying business, something unusual for a woman at the time. *I’ve always enjoyed second chance love stories, and this one is at the top of my list. It was very moving. The hero and heroine were imperfect people who had good intentions. There was also an unexpected twist in the story. I will read again.

*Laura has a way of bringing her characters to life. You find yourself cheering them on. I can see that little girl stomp her foot in defiance and it makes me grin. Everyone has that one young love that makes us sometimes wonder what if.
